My 8th birthday gift was an 8 ft. Opti pram gifted to me by my parents who little understood what course in my life that little dinghy would induce. By the time I was 18 I had acquired and refitted a small, old wooden tugboat and set out on a voyage from North Carolina to Texas, later to return a year later. From there I found a niche in rebuilding old wooden sailing vessels from 24 to 40 feet and learning much in the process. This followed by endless deliveries, a masters license, celestial competence, deep sea deliveries and all the rest eventually leading up to mates' position on a deep-sea research vessel. Later came owning more tugboats, sailboats, a research vessel and many sailing cruises from Camden to Carriacou. Later buying a classic wooden schooner and chartering in the Caribbean for 10 years, racing in the Antigua Classic and other fun regattas until hurricanes and covid ended that! Now moored in North Carolina wondering what's next.
