Yesterday I was lucky enough to sail in the Polypipe Regatta. This is a sailing day for novice and experienced sailors to have a fun day racing around Port Solent.

If your boom is broken or your daggerboard defective and you can’t get onto the water with your yacht or boat this weekend, what about popping over to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
This year celebrated 80 years of the Round the Island Race (RTI) hosted by the Island Sailing Club. The island in question is, of course, The Isle of Wight.
Followers of the Lovesail Twitter profile and Facebook page will know that for the past 3 months I have been annoying everyone with my posts about my training for the London 2 Brighton Bike Ride (54 miles) to raise funds for The British Heart Foundation. Well the ride took place last Sunday and I have recovered sufficiently now to bore you with the days events!
Not a blog that’s sailing related I know, but its heart related! Less than a week away until the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) London to Brighton bike ride, and I shall be taking part.
Old Gaffers Festival. Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight is the setting for the 3-day Festival running from 31st May – 2 June 2013
Gaffers are sailing boats with a gaff rig, a sailing rig (configuration of sails) in which the sail is four-cornered. So-called after the gaff, or spar pole that holds the sail up.
This annual festival sees around 100 gaffers partaking in various races around Yarmouth’s picturesque harbour. There are shoreline activities for visitors including music, dancing, beer tent, refreshments, circus workshops, RNLI Lifeboat and Search and Rescue Helicopter and much much more.
The WightLink ferry docks at Yarmouth so a good choice if you are thinking of visiting the festival

Lovesail will be attending the festival so look out for us and feel free to ask us any questions about the site.
