Welcome to the first of what I hope will be many Guest Blog Spots for the Lovesail Blog. This week we have truly romantic tale “Love in the Middle of the Ocean” about a serendipitous voyage from one of our Lovesail members Tor:
On first hearing about this sailboat show, I thought it was a little one and couldn’t find any figures for size and visitor numbers. Together with the Powerboat show which runs from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th October, they will have visitors of around 100,000, not bad for a “little one”.
Here are some of the statistics for the Southampton Boat Show. Average visitor numbers over 120,000 over 10 days, 47,000 square meters of exhibition space, 400+ boats on the 2km of pontoons, and over £1000 average spend per head (excluding the spend on Boats) – that’s a lot of rope!
Strictly speaking, the Americas Cup is a sailing trophy. It is the oldest active trophy in international sport, and is awarded to the winner of a match race between only two yachts. It now also refers to the race itself.
The Rolex Fastnet Race will be starting from Cowes on Sunday 8th August 2021. Here’s what you need to know about the race.
Cowes Week (Isle of Wight, UK) Dates for 2013: 3rd – 10th August 2013. Here are some statistics to give you some idea of the event.
460 lucky sailors from 66 nations will have the chance to test the waters around Weymouth and Portland ahead of the 2012 Olympics. There will be over 170 races over the 12 day event period across the 5 race courses that make up the sailing field of play.
I’m fairly new to sailing as you will know, and keep seeing tweets and references to the Extreme Sailing Series at the moment. I’m not sure what this is so thought what better way to learn than to write a blog about it.
