January Boat Shows around the World

At this time of year, thoughts will inevitably turn to boat shows and the London Boat Show in particular.  However, this boat show is no more, has ceased to be, and is an ex-boat-show.   Here is a list of just some of the larger boat shows with a sailing element that you could attend in January to get the year off to a cracking start.

Boot Dusseldorf, Dusseldorf, Germany

Running from 18th until 26th January 2020 the Boot is the biggest indoor boat show in the world with attendance figures around the 250,000 mark.  In its 21st year, the Boot offers all the standard boat show fayre.  Tickets are priced at €19 for an adult ticket if bought online before the show rising to €25 on the door.   All tickets purchased in advance have the added bonus of allowing the bearer free public transport around the city.  Dusseldorf is easy to get to from the UK.  There are direct flights, Ferries, Euro Tunnel or Eurostar options available.  The exhibition hall is convenient to access and only 20 minutes from the city centre.  There is plenty of accommodation in the city with lots to see and do away from the boat show.  For more details visit Boot.

Toronto International Boat Show, Toronto, Canada

Toronto’s boat show dates are 17th to 26th January 2020.   It is billed at the largest indoor boat show in North America with attendance figures for 2018 around 77,000.  There are a great many ticket options but the standard day pass for an adult seems to be $20.  For more details about travelling to the venue and tickets see Toronto International Boat Show.

Chicago Boat, RV and Sail Show, Chicago, IL, USA

A smaller affair than the two big players above with attendance figures just shy of 50,000, the Chicago show, as the name suggests, combines RV’s and motorboats with sailboats.  The show runs from 8th January through until 12th January 2020.  Advance ticket prices are $13 discounted until 7th January.  Thereafter it looks to be $15 for an adult, but it’s a little unclear.  For tickets and details on getting there visit Chicago Boat, RV and Sail Show.

Seattle Boat Show, Seattle, WA, USA

This smaller show (around 50,000 visitors) runs from 24th January to 1st February 2020.  It looks like a great show with ticket prices at $17 for an adult.  You can even take your dog along to Dogs on Deck on Thursday 30th January for canine capers.  For more details on the show pop along to the Seattle Boat Show site.
