Fair Weather Sailors
Fair Weather Sailors – Why we need a few more.
As the name suggests, a fair-weather sailor is someone who usually only goes sailing when the weather is good and they have plenty of time to enjoy the experience. Fairweather sailors are often looked down on by other sailors and accused of not being committed to sailing and the lifestyle that goes with it.
However, people who are considered to be fair-weather sailors are not necessarily any less committed to sailing than people who set sail during other types of weather conditions. Sailing during rough weather can be both difficult and dangerous and should only be attempted by experienced sailors who know exactly how to sail in rough waters. Even some people who are experienced sailors avoid sailing in rough weather conditions because of the dangers and because, quite frankly, sailing in rough weather just isn’t as much fun.
For many people, sailing is a way to escape from the pressures of the modern world and relax for a while. For sailing enthusiasts, there is nothing better than setting sail in the open water and feeling the wind in their hair as they explore. Many people also take a fishing rod along and perhaps a beer or two so that they can get the most out of the experience. It’s vitally important to our health that in this busy world we have downtime to fully relax and recharge our batteries so we are better able to cope with all that is thrown at us during a working week.
Like many other sports, sailing can be a fun and leisurely pastime that does not have to be stressful. There is nothing wrong with making the most of the experience and simply enjoying it. For some people sailing is a hobby that they practice whenever they get the chance. However, their leisure time might be limited if they have a busy life packed with commitments, so they choose times when sailing conditions are at their best so that they can enjoy their hobby to the fullest.
More and more people are discovering the joy of setting sail on weekends and in their spare time, which means that the number of fair-weather sailors is on the rise. In fact, there are even special groups where fair-weather sailors can get together to enjoy the sailing experience in a fun and leisurely way and perhaps enjoy a beer or two afterward. After all, the whole point is having fun and getting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life for a while.
