Transat Jacques Vabre
Transat Jacques Vabre Race
The Transat Jacques Vabre race is a transatlantic yacht race that follows the old coffee trading route from France to Brazil. The name, Jacques Vabre, comes from a French brand of coffee that sponsors the race. It takes place every other year in odd years, leaving from Le Harve in France (France’s premier port for importing coffee) in early November and arriving in Itajai in Brazil some 5400 miles later. It is a two-handed race, that is to say only two crew on either mono or multi-hulled boat. The 2019 winner was Groupe GCA with a time of 11 days, 16 hrs, 34 minutes et 41 seconds. The two crew were Gilles Lamiré (FRA) and Antoine Carpentier (FRA).
