Lake Ontario 300
Lake Ontario 300 Challenge
The Lake Ontario 300 Challenge is a yacht race which circumnavigates Lake Ontario, a distance of 300 nautical miles.
The Lake Ontario 300 originated through the vision of a group of single-handed sailors that were members of the yacht clubs surrounding the lake. The group envisioned a long-distance race to challenge the skills of those who usually raced single-handed. The group realized that often the sailing done on Lake Ontario was by 2 people and racing double-handed was a good way to improve and challenge skills.
The 300 nautical mile course starts at Port Credit Yacht Club, mark rounding at Gibraltar, the Main Duck Islands, Ford Shoal, Niagara R2 and finishes back at Port Credit Yacht Club.
