Sailing Events in July around the globe.

So in the Northern Hemisphere with Summer (!) upon us, there are some great sailing events to catch up with and participate in if you are lucky enough.  Starting with Sailing Events in July in the US.

 

Sailing Events in July in the US

Chicago to Mackinac Boat Race, Chicago Yacht Club, Chicago, Illinois.  Running from July 13-16 2013, The Mac, as it is known locally, is a sailing race of  333 miles from Chicago Yacht Club to Mackinac Island on Lake Michigan.  3,000 sailors will be competing in the longest annual freshwater sailing race in the world.  Although The Mac is primarily an amateur race, it does attract some of the finest sailing talents in the sport.

Larchmont Race Week, Larchmont Yacht Club, Larchmont, New York.  Running from July 13 – 21 2013, Larchmont Race Week has junior and senior sections during the week.

The Youngstown Level Regatta, Youngstown Yacht Club, Youngstown, Ohio.  Running from July 27 until July 28, two days of racing for both seniors and juniors, taking place around Long Island Sound.

 

Sailing Events in July in the UK

West Highland Yachting Week, Oban, West Coast Scotland.  Running from 27 July – 2 August 2013.  With 1,000 plus competitors from around the globe, it has become the biggest sailing event on the West Coast and takes place in Craobh, Oban and Tobermory.  As well as competitive racing there is a varied programme of shore-side activities too.

All Wales Boat Show, Conwy and Deganwy Quay Marinas, Conwy, North Wales.  Starting on Wednesday 24th July and finishing on Sunday 28th July 2013, the All Wales Boat Show is under new management and promises “a highly professional, all-encompassing watersports extravaganza, with activities and entertainment programme that will appeal to all”. The show has several locations along the Conwy River, which are accessible by water taxi or buses.

 

Sailing Events in July Rest of the World

Aegean Rally,  The Hellenic Offshore Racing Club, Faliro Bay, Greece.   Starting on July 19 and finishing on July 29, the race is a regatta, which consists of a series of 3 or 4 individual offshore races.  Starting and finishing at Faliro Bay the yachts sail approximately 300 nautical miles around the beautiful islands of the Aegean.

The Lake Ontario 300 Challenge, Port Credit Yacht Club, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.  Lake Ontario 300 starts on July 12 2013.  It is an offshore race on Lake Ontario, providing a challenging circumnavigation of the lake.
